“GOOOOOOOAL,” and the crowd goes wild! FC Barcelona won every trophy last year. This team won all three trophies: La Liga, Copa Del Rey, and Champions League. They won La Copa del Rey at Barcelona with a 3-1 lead against Athletic Bilbao. Messi scored in the 20’ minute and Neymar scored with an outrageous goal at the 36’ minute, only to be followed in the 74’ minute with another Messi score. Then, they won the Champions League against Juventus, in Berlin, with a 3-1 lead. Rakitic scored flashing in the 4’ minute of the game leaving the crowd astonished, followed by Suarez in the 68’ minute with assists from Neymar, and culminated at the 90+7’ minute when Neymar finished his season with a marvelous goal. At the beginning of the season, Barcelona was not looking to be this excellent, but it finished above all European football teams; that is the same “goal” of the Pinecrest soccer team as its new starting line-up faces district rivals.

IMG_20160105_084027Leander Galan, a skilled player new to the school soccer team, is looking forward to winning and to having fun this season, explaining “There’s no point to playing a sport that you won’t enjoy, so try your hardest and have fun.” He plans to follow the best advice he has received, which is to never give up, as shared with him by his uncle who is also is soccer inspiration. Another player, a starting forward from last year, Michel Rodriguez, explained his full trust in his teammates, “yes, I have total confidence in them”.

IMG_20160105_084247Santiago Larino, an Argentinean-born Croc, is also unbelievably talented at playing soccer; he explains the most exciting part of the game is “Getting the ball to your feet and just playing.” He also explained that the team prepares for games by relaxing and listening to music to get pumped for the game. If the players are losing during half time, they motivate each other by keeping their heads up and pretending the game is still 0-0 and giving it their all, just like Barcelona!
